Friends of Pathways in Jackson, Wyoming, was founded in 1994 with the farsighted goal of creating alternative routes for non-automobile users in Jackson and the surrounding communities. Under the auspices of the Friends of Pathways, the Jackson Hole Community Pathways system has grown to 33 miles of trails for non-motorized use by bikers, pedestrians, skiers and equestrians. Projects underway and already completed include trails systems in Wilson and a connecting pathway from Jackson to Jenny Lake, as well as a multi-use trail system from Grand Teton National Park south on Highway 390 with a connection to the Centennial Trail in Wilson. You can find a quick rundown here

For seventeen years, Friends of Pathways has partnered with governmental agencies, including the United States Forest service, and community businesses to build and maintain environmentally-friendly trails and pathways in Wyoming. Through their Commuter Choice Challenge and Go By Bike School Challenge, Friends of Pathways has encouraged the communities it serves to make an environmentally-friendly transportation choice. Reducing dependence on automobile transportation helps reduce pollution and save on energy consumption and thus keeps our air and waterways cleaner. As a result of the volunteer efforts of Friends of Pathways, the Jackson communities are doing their bit to reduce global warming.
